That was when I read about the option to use VLC and that an external 3d Blu Ray drive/player could be used to play the 3d Blu Rays in VLC. I also looked for other converters, without any luck, except for an expensive one on ebay. I did see another brand called 3d Now, but only saw one available and could not find any info on it with an internet search. I was willing to try the 3d Video Wizard 2d to 3d converter, but it seems impossible to find anymore. Purchasing a 3d tv or monitor is not an option at the moment, due to some restrictions in the household.ĭevices available to use: 4K TV (non-3d, unfortunately), Windows 10 laptop with Intel UHD Graphics 260 card (supposedly it can support a 3d movie), and a HDMI cable (apparently any decent one will work for 3d, from what I read). We don't need the characters to be in your face, but as long as there is a little bit of "jumping"/standing out of the screen, to at least have a decent 3d depth/effect, that is what matters most. The primary viewers will be an elderly family member and kids therefore, I can be satisfied (at least for now) with passive or anaglyph. The only 3d movies that this particular basic setup will be for is animated (mostly Disney/Pixar), which, I assume will do better in passive or anaglyph than some non-animated movies. While I did look at used 3d projectors, the total cost of a silver/polarized/special screen (if still needed), active 3d glasses, and any other necessary device was too much. Here's the situation: I'm looking for an option to play 3d movies in passive or anaglyph (still a little unsure in the difference) format. I've been researching for hours, including on this forum, and still have some tech issues that I cannot find a solid answer to. I need some assistance with getting a basic 3d movie setup going.
